Get to know Chiodo
New school resource officer Ned Chiodo deals with a lot in the school.
Chiodo was a street officer for seven years and then moved to high school for a change.
“I used to work around the downtown area and patrolled,” Chiodo said.
One of Chiodo’s favorite parts of his job is meeting new people.
“As a patrolman I’ve dealt with a little bit of everything. I deal with all kinds of people,” Chiodo said.
The job isn’t always as busy as Chiodo’s patrol job.
“My least favorite part is being stuck in one area in the building; I have to wait around for something to happen,” Chiodo said.
At the school Chiodo deals with fights, thefts and sometimes has detectives call him to deal with issues with students that happened outside of school.
“Do on others as you would do upon yourself. If you follow the school rules and be respectful, you won’t have to come see me or deal with me at any point,” Chiodo said.
Chiodo also said that students can come talk to him about things that don’t have anything to do with school fights.
“Students can always come talk to me whether it has something to deal with police issues or not,” Chiodo said.
Chiodo said he enjoyed his time here and plans to make himself more noticeable.
“I plan to be in the halls during passing period and make my presence visual,” Chiodo said. “Lots of the fights happen in school because of issues that bleed in from outside of school.”
